I’ve added one final bag to my arsenal: the Think Tank Photo Retrospective 30. I’ll use this bag when I need most of my lenses and camera gear, but aren’t traveling on an airplane. When I travel, I use my Gura Gear Kiboko 22L+, which also has my computer travel stuff like chargers, cables, USB drive, etc. If I want to travel light and just need my DSLR and maybe another lens, I’ll take my Pategonia bag. I think I’ve got it all covered and yes, I’m a bit obsessive. HAHA.
All of the reviews are true and I just love the Retrospective 30. It easily holds my Nikon D750 with 85mm f/1.8 attached, 20mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5, flash, accessories bag and more, with plenty of room to spare. (I’ll probably stop carrying the zoom when my Nikon P900 comes in…if I live that long ;-) It is really deep and I like the two long zippered pockets. The two front pockets are deceptively large. You can actually fit a small DSLR with a zoom in one of the pockets! I probably wouldn’t do this since it’s not real padded, but it gives you a good idea of the capacity of those pockets.
If you don’t mind the blue slate color, Amazon has got them for $129. For whatever reason, the pinestone colored one is $195. It’s not worth the 50% premium and I quite like the blue. It’s kind of a medium dark denim.
