My new baby: a custom Carvin guitar!

I remember lusting after Carvin guitars in their catalog decades ago. Well, I visited their San Diego showroom in November with by brother and decided it was time. I had a particular look I was going for based on a similar looking Les Paul I saw online, but I wanted a double-cutaway similar to the 1960 Les Paul Special.

Carvin didn’t really have what I wanted in their current line, but I was able to still order a DC4T, which was not normally available. I took it even further than my inspiration Les Paul and got no fret inlays as well as gold knobs, cream pickup bezels and a maple headstock. I wanted it to sort of look like it was made out of a single piece of wood…neck and all. I just love the end result and most importantly, it plays like a dream.

Here’s the specs:
-DC4T body
-Wilkinson Vibrato
-Maple neck, body and fingerboard
-Tung oil finish on back of neck
-No fret inlays, side dots only
-Stainless steel frets
-Cream with cream pickups, with cream bezels
-Gold-plated hardware

Maybe it’s time to get the band back together! LOL
