Finding and clearing flagged messages in Outlook 2003

I like to flag messages of importance in Outlook. However, Outlook does not automatically clear the flag if you delete it. I also often move the message into folders and forget to clear the flag. What ends up happening is the For Follow Up shortcut has messages that are no longer important. Anyways, I figured out an easy way to find and delete those old flagged messages:

  1. First, click on the For Follow Up shortcut which I believe is one of the defautl Favorite Folders.
  2. Right-click on the column border at the top (where it says “Arrange By”) and choose Folder from the pop-up menu.
  3. Then just multi-select all of the messages for which you want to clear the flags. (Hint: To select multiple items, click the first item, and then hold down the Ctrl key and click additional items. Use the Shift key to select a range from one item to another.)
  4. Right-click one of the selected messages and choose Follow Up > Clear Flag.
  5. Done!
