Problem playing podcasts at “Fast” speed on Sansa Fuze

For some unknown reason, when you play SOME podcast at the fast (chipmonk) speed, the sound becomes garbled when the screensaver kicks in. There have been similar reports supposedly due to MP3s using VBR (variable bit rate), instead of the more common CBR (constant bit rate). The only difference I see is that the offending podcast MP3s are recorded in stereo instead of mono. Fortunately, most podcasts (including my favs) are mono (for a smaller file size I suppose) so it's not a big problem. I've reported the problem to Sandisk, but no response yet.
